The idea of CICs seems great and I and a friend are in the process of setting one up, Positive Action East, which aims to support the development of Black and Ethnic Minorities in gaining professional employment in the housing and other public sector in Essex. The problem we have is that the process is very bureacratic, with so many hoops to skip over. It is offputting, particularly for minority organisations who are stressed out and lack capacity or resource to get professional expertise to help us in setting up. We keep getting our papers sent back for not completing properly etc. It takes to long and is not at all a simple process.

Are you guys aware that you can make money from a google custom search engine?

As you have said, they are easy to setup. Once setup you can associate a Google adsense account to the search engine and then make money on ever sponsored click that your searchers click.

So you can setup the Google custom search engine to search your site and feature it highly and then searches googles index secondly while displaying ppc adds where available. Making you money constantly which you can then use for any good causes you see fit.

Drop me an email if you have any questions.

Hi William, thanks for the comments.
Everyclick and easysearch are for use to search the web and fundraise! I use easysearch because I find it easy truly :-) There is a tab also and I go in easyfundraising.
Google searches just the website. If you want google to search the web go to easysearch and bling one penny in your tin.
No a dilemma; it's a mad fundraising machine!

you have done a good job in setting the Google search up - I'll have to look at my private site to see if I can improve my offering.

However, as regards the MS site - you are left with a dilemma - you can make money from Everyclick, but you want to promote Google!

Anybody trying to inspire people to give time to their communities should visit www.volunteergenie.org.uk- it's free and gives some good information on how Community Interest Companies and not-for-profit organistions can recruit volunteers using the media.

The site provides media guides, lots of tips, and a round up of all the latest research with links to external resources. The site is packed with real volunteer recruitment campaigns from the likes of Samaritans, TimeBank, National Blood Service, Home-Start, Special Constables, ChildLine, Contact the Elderly, Crime Concern, VSO and many more.

This is a powerful way to activley support charities across the UK.
People skills and time on a voluntary basis are the ingredients to making a difference in the world.

Hi,

Also thanks for pointing out to the links section, some great links over there. Could you add www.helpalot.org section at 'Social Change 2.0', it would be much appreciated.
